The Story of the Bulb Logo
What’s Up with the Logo?
My daughters, “Dad, that sorta’ looks like an onion…” Me, “Well sorta’, but not exactly, it’s a different type of bulb… you know, like a flower bulb! Something pretty comes out of it.”
While setting on my couch watching a movie with my family, there was a greater story unfolding on the paper in my lap. It was the story of all of us. It is the story of who God created us to be and the imagery of how a flower bulb helps tell our story. The first image presented to me as a hand-sketched bulb that organically came out of my spirit through a pencil in my hand as I heard the Creator of the Universe unpack the significance of this hand-sketched bulb. As I continued with this imagery, it became even more creative. My spirit began to see the imagery of this flower bulb (the image to the far left at the top of this page) transformed into a more stylistic bulb logo for Original Me (the one in the middle). As this symbolic imagery continued to be nurtured in my spirit, one day it exploded into a multi-dimensional logo with 4 layers of imagery (the image to the far right).
The primary icon would be Original Me’s version of the Perichoresis symbol (the 3 black objects representing the Father,Son,Spirit (F,S,S) in the dance of the Relationship of God as ONE. The black dot in the middle is the inclusion of You & Me in this Oneship of God by Jesus. This dot is representative of our Original Me (who God says we are, not our fallen images of ourselves). The other 3 images create additional context and are represented in the white images (the negative images of the black):
-
- BULB LEAFLETS – imagine yourself looking straight down at a flower bulb. Symbolically speaking you can see the imagery of the leaflets of a flower bulb as a reminder of the promise of the beauty within you. The white areas are the leaflets.
-
- THE FIRE OF GOD (LOVE) – as the essence of God’s nature that you are bathed and refined in. It is the fire that purifies and burns the hell out of you. The white areas are the flames of God’s fire (Love).
-
- DOVES (HOLY SPIRIT) – engulfs and indwells you, as only the real (true) you exist with&in the Relationship of F,S,S – This image is that of a dove/s as the Holy Spirit of God’s presence in You. You are the temple of the Holy Spirit. The Relationship of God (F,S,S) is together in you as ONE always and never separated. The white areas are doves representing the Holy Spirit.
Anywhere the Holy Spirit is, so is the Father and Son. Anywhere the Son is, so is the Father and Holy Spirit. Anywhere the Father is, so is the Son and Holy Spirit. God is infinite. God’s creation is finite. God is complete and needs nothing from us.
The Relationship of God has never been separated, especially when Jesus was on the Cross. Read all of Psalm 22. The Father never turned his face away from the Son. God does not do abandonment. Notice verse 1 and 24. Verse 1 is Jesus’ relative human reality crying out, and verse 24 is the Father’s response to that cry. The fullness of God was in Jesus on the cross, reconciling the world back to God – 2 Cor 5:19. The glorious good news (“the Gospel”) is that all of us are included in the never-separatedness of God. Our adoption into the Relationship of God is with&in Jesus – Eph 4:1-6, Rom 8:29, Jeremiah 1:5, Col 3:3.
The mystery revealed to us by Christ is Christ in Us, the hope of glory – Col 1:27
Where did you come from, and where are you going?
Can the story of the bulb help you with these questions?
You are an original person created by the Relationship of God(F,S,S)! Like a bulb blooming into a beautiful flower, we are also a beautiful image of Oneness with&in Jesus. He also describes Himself as the Groom and us as His Bride. The image of the bulb blooming into something beautiful is like our metamorphosis when we believe we are His bride. The bulb transforms from something that looks dead to something so beautiful that it’s unmistakenly alive. We intimately live with our Creator in us… We are beautiful to the Relationship of Father, Son, Spirit. God sees what is unseen about you and me.
The bulb is a symbol of life… life buried inside something that doesn’t look or feel alive. God created the bulb as a symbol of hope and a treasure to be discovered. It is a symbol of inclusion and destiny. Like a beautiful tulip hidden within the bulb, the beauty of the tulip may not be visible while it is deep within the bulb, but the beauty will be revealed in time. Do you ever look or feel dry and lifeless? Don’t we all desire to feel alive?
The unveiling of your beauty begins with you, re-cognizing that God is already present within you. It starts with us saying yes to God’s invitation to be One with God in Jesus. All of us are a dry, lifeless looking bulb. At some point in our lives, we have been in a bulb-like state of being. Some blossom early. Some take a while. Let’s be real in owning that some of us need more fertilizer. Regardless of the timing, everyone can experience the beauty of who we genuinely are. And we get to share the gift of this beauty with others. All of us go through hard times. Sometimes we are being held back by something within ourselves that needs to be discovered so it can die—or maybe better stated as an act of “unchoosing” the thing/s holding us back – like attitudes, beliefs, resulting from our wounds.
We are just like a seed or a bulb that must be buried before it can grow and blossom. The willingness to die to our selfishness (the act of unchoosing or de-selecting) precedes the revelation of our beauty! Jesus is an example of us in this regard. His physical body died, was buried, and then came back to life. There is no resurrection without being buried. He was willing to experience rejection and death because He could see the Relationship of God’s beauty within us. His joy about being One with us was worth the Cross to God. Indwelling us is God’s desire. God has decided for us to be the glory of the Relationship of God. Why? Because the essence of Love is that it is always about the other, not about self. The Relationship of God is Love. In this way, the bulb is a symbol and metaphor for hope, joy, redemption, healing, restoration, resurrection and glory revealed! Your strength is in God’s presence in you.
An undiscovered God (F,S,S) in you manifests a false version of You. It is the same with our false perception that God is separate from us. Our identity and value are with God (God in us). Us not re-cognizing God in us is what it means to be (and feel) empty. Our value and honor are only discovered and experienced in our identity. Our power is in the influence only found in our participation with God’s presence in us. We cannot share with others before we agree that we already have God in us. God has already offered us everything. We cannot give what we do not know we already have available to us. Our reward and our destiny cannot be found anywhere else outside of God’s love for us.
This image can be an organic symbol of the beauty, life and power in you. That’s right; God is waiting for us to accept the invitation to be loved. Jesus waits for you, as a groom proposing marriage waits to hear His Bride say YES. He is waiting for your response. God will not force you into the Relationship of F,S,S. God is gentle. God does not want to control you or use you (despite the well-intended church language you’ve heard about God wanting to use you). God desires to awaken you to the completeness of the life you are created to participate in that is with&in the Relationship of God. Jesus is on the edge of His seat anticipating, yet patiently waiting for that one word… YES. As you make yourself available to experience the Love of the F,S,S you will discover who you are as God sees you.
