My Original Me Story

Original Me Story

Who am I? I am a nobody of significance in the world’s eyes, yet the Good News is that I Am an important somebody in God’s eyes! This is also true for you. I have decided to accept that God(F,S,S) has already transformed me into union with the Relationship of God(F,S,S). Is the time right for you also? Maybe a part of my story of transformation can help you? God is waiting for you to re-cognize (metanoia) God’s presence with&in you. Will you realize this as you continue to read? Maybe. Maybe not. Can you trust that God is not worried about you, because God will never leave you nor forsake you?

Transformation starts with a desire that you have already been given… a God given desire. I dared to  recognize (re-know) God(F,S,S) in me. In doing so I found that any significance I have of value is found in God’s eyes, not in the worlds (other people).

Because I believe this is true, I have embraced the  desire to experience God living in me as a reflection of the image of the Relationship of the Father,Son,Spirit; not because I am trying to superficially mimic God with my words or actions, but instead because I desire God’s being in me to emanate from me organically. I hope what comes out of me is God’s essence without me striving. For me to experience God’s presence in me is to be my Original Me. Am I very good at this? No, but I’m gradually getting better! What I’m talking about is a unique expression of the Relationship of the absolute God(F,S,S) in each individual as a unique creation.  As my relative reality conforms to the absolute reality of God, I encounter the rest of God’s creation as a complementary part of being ONE. As I re-know who God is in me, sin loses recognition that it was ever a part of my being. Sin loses power in my life. As much as my experience demonstrates this to be true, I still struggle for what I just shared to be a daily reality in my life. We all struggle with being who God created us to be. In this, we are not alone as it sometimes feels. God is always present with&in us. There is nowhere we can hide from the Relationship of God(F,S,S).

With those thoughts of what Original Me means out on the table, let me share some of my journey with you. This awakening for me started sometime in the early to mid-part of 2015 and continues even today.

An invitation of sorts was given to me from the Holy Spirit on an early morning before sunrise on my two-hour drive to work as a physician at a prison. Out of my struggle and dialogue with God(F,S,S) came a spark of life that was birthed out of me from God(F,S,S) in the form of this phrase, “Original Me.” Understanding what this means was been a birthing like process. There has been some labor, but most of all, Joy! I’m in my early fifties and have been a doctor for 20 plus years.

I’m revisiting with you today these thoughts that I wrote down in 2015. At this moment, I’m sitting on my couch with my beautiful wife and my daughters (somewhere else in the house) on the day after Thanksgiving of 2019. I’m anticipating the Arkansas vs. Missouri football game to come on at 1:30 PM CST. The Razorback’s football team has been less than competitive for several years. Thank goodness for track and baseball! Is it possible that the football team might win today? Yes, anything is possible! We’ll see.

Pardon that side road I just went down. I sometimes digress as some of my identities from this world manifest, like me as an Arkansas Razorback. Let’s get back to 2015 and to something much more significant, like how important you are. On this early morning drive, I asked the Father,Son&Spirit(F,S,S) to give me a creative outlet that we would enjoy together. As I was talking with the Holy Spirit about my request, God gave me a two-word phrase, “Original Me.” As I continued dialoguing with the Spirit about what it meant, God explained that it represented who I really am – who God created me to be – how God sees me – the me without any baggage, NOT how I see myself. Over time and further dialogue, the Spirit has continued to share more thoughts to flesh out my understanding of Original Me. God continues doing that even today. The F,S,S continue to reveal more and more about who God is and who I am with&in God (Me as One with Jesus).

I believe God has given me a desire to be my Original Me and to facilitate a conversation with others about your Original Me. You must know how important, special and unique you are to God. If you do not understand this message about you; you will likely not understand it for others, and probably also struggle with understanding God as the Relationship of F,S,S. Knowing the absolute and infinite goodness of God towards you is the cornerstone of our identity in Jesus.

What I have shared is just the beginning of my Original Me journey… I hope there is much more story to come and to share with you. What’s in it for you? Recognizing and embracing Your Original Me. Consider accepting this invitation to explore your Original Me. Dare you discover more and more about who God created you to be? I believe it is an adventure we are all designed to go on! And one I don’t think you want to miss.

The Relationship of God (F,S,S) with&in Me. My hope of glory!

Original Me Context Key

Some of what I share may sound like new language at times. If so, then good. This is part of my purpose… to change the perspective of some of the religious language that keeps us in bondage. I’m providing this KEY of words and phrases you will see throughout the Original Me website. For those of you (like my wife) who have a keen eye for punctuation or grammar, you may need to suspend some of those rules because I’m going to break some of them for points of emphasis. You might not like them, but please tolerate them for the sake of the communicative purpose they serve. You might call them Original Me isms 🙂 Some are entirely original to Original Me. Some are variations on what others have shared. As much as I can, I want to credit contributors who are trying to improve the imagery of our language like Original Me.

Context KEY:

    • with&in – I’m combining the two words because they are the same thought. It is a conjunction of sorts. Jesus is both with and in us at the same time. Why? Because God is both in relationship to us.
    • God(F,S,S) – this is short for Father,Son,Spirit. I do not include spaces because there has never been any separation in the Relationship of God (F,S,S), aka… the Trinity. I’m not including an H for Holy in front of Spirit for brevity. Nothing I omit makes the Holy Spirit any less Holy! God is the Relationship of F,S,S. God is not just the Father. The Father, Son and Spirit do not exist as God without the other. This is the essence of God being ONE. The Relationship of F,S,S is LOVE. All attributes of God flow out of this essence of being ONE. Although Trinity is an established word to describe God, I feel that F,S,S visually highlights the diversity within the unity of God. It is this diversity within the relationship that seems vital in healing our images of God. Some of our toxic religious language is dependent on the imagery of God being a monarchal entity. This imagery (that many of us have lived with) cannot accurately or adequately portray the essence of God’s nature as the Relationship of F,S,S.
    • Oneship – in my usage, it is an amalgamation of One and Relationship to help describe the ONEness of the Relationship of the Father,Son,Spirit as described above. It also is descriptive of our inclusion in the Relationship of God. I thought I created a new word. I have never heard anyone use it, but evidently, it’s a real word. Who knew? (There also is a shipping company that has cleverly adopted it as its name.) I have also since come across Julian of Norwich’s use of being “Oned” in Christ or the “Oneing” process of God that includes us in the Relationship of God.
    • Metanoia – (re-knowing, re-cognizinng, remembering) {rec·og·nized, rec·og·niz·ing. to identify as something or someone previously seen, known, etc.} Metanoia is the Greek word translated as repent. It means to change your mind. It doesn’t mean simply change your ways. It means to change your understanding. It means to re-know who God created you to be. Only then will your “ways” (behavior) change. Anything less is temporary behavioral change as an act of human will. We have been taught that “repentance” is an act of our will, and if we don’t change our behavior, God will reject us. God has already accepted who God created you to be. As long as we choose not to re-know who God says we are, we will live in such a way that our experience is that of being lost. Remaining “lost” is to choose not to metanoia. I have heard this emphasis from several voices, but I have to give credit to Ted Dekker and Bill Vanderbush for using it in a way that has made the biggest impression.
